Scuba diving off the back of the boat - hydraulic platform eases you to the water level

Great Barrier Reef Snorkel and Dive Trip - 2 Reef Sites in 1 Day

Explore the reef on this twenty metre five star luxury catamaran cruiser that has a steel silver hull and sits proudly on the Cairns Reef Fleet Marina dockside.

This boat has had over one million dollars spent on her to make her the pride of the fleet. M.V. OF offers guests a spacious air-conditioned saloon that is beautifully fitted out to provide you with more comfort and easy accessibility to the forward and aft decks.

You have the choice of lying around in the sunshine with the wind in your hair, on comfortable marine couches on the top deck or forward lying on a towel laid out on the bow (the pointy end of the boat). From the saloon you can choose to purchase soft drinks and alcoholic beverages throughout the day.

This Cairns dive and snorkel trip welcomes its guests aboard at 7:30am to ensure you get real value for money out on the Great Barrier Reef and ensure you get to be the first Cairns tour boat on Upolu Cay and Outer Edge on any given day.

You will have six full hours of snorkelling and scuba diving to explore the secrets of the fascinating underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef. At Upolu Cay you depart from the boat onto the most pristine sandy coral cay that sits in the middle of the ocean surrounded by colourful reef and inquisitive fish.

Here you will enjoy a glass bottom boat tour and a marine environment interpretation by one of the boat crew members.

You can also try your snorkel gear out and make the necessary adjustment with some help from the boat crew who are always on hand for anything that you may need assistance with through the day.

Floatation vests are available for you to use if you do not feel comfortable in the water or if you want to spend hours drift snorkelling around the Great Barrier Reef to see the amazing coral structures and marine life.

If you stay still long enough the fish will not see you as a predator and come up nice and close to have a good look at you.

Snorkel drift around for an hour and then be back on board to go to one of the most amazing spots on the Great Barrier Reef called The Wonder Wall.

Located on the edge of Upolu Reef, the Wonder Wall is perfect for the first time snorkeller or the fully certified diver as it offers an abundance of different types of corals which in turn attracts different types of fish and other marine life.

Our reef trip specialises in introductory or first time divers being the only Great Barrier Reef dive operator that offers a ratio of 2 intro divers to 1 instructor.

No previous dive experience is required! The boat crew ares trained to encourage you to get over your fears and make sure you are comfortable during your very first scuba dive.

New guests always come back from this reef trip with a story of what they saw and experienced with their eyes wide open and their jaws still unhinged.

The Wonder Wall truly is a great place to spend the rest of your day on the Great Barrier Reef as you will see so much more here than a lot of other coral reef destinations.

Make sure your first Cairns Great Barrier Reef boat trip is with our very popular crew

One of the absolute best Great Barrier Reef small group cruises from Cairns as voted by its passengers!

Just got off the magnificent ocean freedom machine. What a vessel, what wonderfull helpful staff. I had dived before in Tahiti 20 years ago and felt comfortable, but today I could get a grip of it and with as much help and reassurance from the staff I couldn't dive today. No matter at all as the snorkelling is amazing and the barracuda swimming around the back of the boat was truly amazing. There are 4 different places to relax and we used them all at some point during the day. Money very well spent and I would recommend this to anyone at any level of competence.

Saturday 11/2/12 What a fantastic experience for me and my mates Mark and Michael, Captain Gordo and staff were most inviting when first arrived, welcomed with fresh danishes and fruit. My mate Mark's introductory drive was an experience he will never forget, Joel settled his nerves and was a great companion. The second free dive for me with Jaz was exciting being able to dive with a turtle and I don't mean the instructor and see some more amazing large local fish, Frenchy the marine biologist had a remarkable knowledge of the coral reef, To all the other staff thanks for an enjoyable and memorable day out. My mates and I decided to holiday in Cairns for a lads weekend to celebrate my birthday. Going with Ocean Freedom, we all got to dive for the very first time and see so much. The food was excellent and the staff on board were alot of fun. Thanks team for such a fun day out. Will be back.

The tour specialists recommended Ocean Freedom to me, after I enquired about finding a good company who catered for first time divers. I was not disapointed, the day started off on a high with the sun shining upon us. And it kicked started what was to become a fun filled day. We stopped off at two locations one in some beautiful coral surrounding Upolu Cay and the other amidst the phenomenal 'wonder wall'. I really like that my partner and I had a diving instructor to ourselves, it allowed us to ease into our first time diving. I am proud to say I have now dived near a reef shark, touched a turtle and swam over a sting ray. The crew were so helpful and I will be back.
