Day Tour Activities: The Waterfalls and Paronella Park day tour visits some of the prettiest regions of Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands showcasing the bio diversity of the region and the plants and animals that live here and thrive in this tropical environment.
You may even get to see some shy Platypus if you are very quiet and patiently sit by the Allumbah Pocket stream waiting for them to come along and show their little faces. The Lumholtzs Tree Kangaroo is another shy creature that makes an appearance now and again to the delight of day trippers, along with huge bush pythons, kangaroos, birds and butterflies.
Whoever thought they would be taking a cruise on an ancient Volcano Crater lake? Well on this Cairns day tour that's exactly what you will be doing right after your delicious scones with jam and cream in the historic Lake Barrine Tea House.
Back on board the coach and you're off to see the Giant Curtin Fig Tree another one of Mother Natures magnificent accomplishments for all to see and admire. Stay very quiet as the rainforests that surround this region are known as the home of the rare Lumholtz's Tree Kangaroo, a very shy little macropod or marsupial and one of only two species of Tree Kangaroo found in Australia.
Romantic waterfalls in rainforests are loved by both the young and old alike and the Milla Milla Falls will certainly stir something within you. If it's a hot day take your swimmers and cool off under the sheet of pure mountain water but make sure you just keep an eye out for the snapping turtles. Just kidding!
Next stop is to go and see fat contented dairy cows grazing in lush green pastures at the Bio-Dynamic Mungalli Creek Dairy Farm. Here you can taste some freshly made cheeses, dips and yoghurts and purchase other organic food specialties. Now your taste buds are tingling it's off to Mungalli Falls for a lunch by the river under the Gazebo and then a stroll around the property to stretch the legs.
Now the exciting part or the crescendo of the day's tour is about to be upon you after a brief stop at Crawford's Lookout for you to view the Johnstone Gorge that carves it's way thru the valley floor below.
Paronella Park the famous Spanish Castle in the rainforest is your final destination of the day. You will be greeted at the castles entrance by your tour guide and taken around Paronella Park and told about the romantic story that is behind the construction of not only the castle but also the pleasure gardens, the movie theatre, lawn tennis courts and dance hall. Jose Paronella the man behind the dream was a brilliant thinker and would not let anything stand in his way of building the dream castle that his wife had wanted. He also built Queensland's first Hydro-electric plant next to the Mena Creek Falls.
The beauty and history will leave you breathless about Jose Paronella and his vision to build Paronella Park for everyone to enjoy.

I went on two tropical horizon tours in the beginning of May. The first was their Kuranda trip which I enjoyed because of the skyrail and train, but in my opinion I would say that their paronella park journey is better. It was far more of a guided experience. The castle was very impressive and mila mila falls was beautiful.

Paronella Park is just beautiful. There was this particularly nice spot inside where you could sit and feed turtles and take photos of the waterfall. I am really thinking of returning and doing the night tour. I bet it would be stunning to see the castle lit up in the dark.

My guide was so good from Tropical Horizon was soo good. I would recommend him to anyone. Paronelle Park has the most beautfiul waterfall. Go there :)

I've mean meaning to check out some of the tablelands for a while and I got the chance last week. I just wanted to leave a little comment about the wonderful service that I recieved with this company. It really was an excellent day. We went out on two tours with this company. The first was to kuranda on the train and skyrail, incredible view made for some great photos. And to paronella park the grounds were stunning and the kids had fun running around. Good day out.

Frank was a great host and the Tablelands scenery was just beautiful.

The castle in the rainforest was a definate highlight on this trip. The kids got to feed eels in the lake which they loved! and the wife and I explored the grounds with our friendly tour guide. Definately a must see.
