Take the Kuranda Scenic Railway up to Kuranda while viewing the world heritage rainforest, through 16 tunnels and past the famous Barron River waterfalls. The Kuranda Village, otherwise known as the village in the rainforest contains many eclectic shops, small restaurants, cafes, pubs, heritage markets that run daily as well as animal attractions like Birdworld, the Butterfly Sanctuary, the Koala Gardens and the Venom Zoo which you will either love or hate with its creepy crawlies. On your way down, soar through the tree tops on the Kuranda Skyrail. Be sure to stop the the two unique boardwalk stops on the way down to get the best views and photographic opportunities of the Barron Falls and visit the rainforest interpretation centre and join a tour with a park ranger.
Although rainforest tours can be long days, they are also fun filled and informative and some even include river boat cruises to see crocodiles, pythons, cassowaries and lots of other native Australian animals in the wild.
