Ocean Freedom
July 25, 2014
Just got off the magnificent ocean freedom machine. What a vessel, what wonderfull helpful staff. I had dived before in Tahiti 20 years ago and felt comfortable, but today I could get a grip of it and with as much help and reassurance from the staff I couldn't dive today. No matter at all as the snorkelling is amazing and the barracuda swimming around the back of the boat was truly amazing. There are 4 different places to relax and we used them all at some point during the day. Money very well spent and I would recommend this to anyone at any level of competence.

Cairns Dining - Dinner Shows - Entertainment
The City of Cairns has an abundance of award winning restaurants, cafes, bistros, coffee shops, diners, pizzerias, pubs, market food courts and take-aways all within five square blocks of the Cairns Central Business District (CBD). No matter what time of the day or night you want to grab a bite, there will be something open to satisfy your craving.
Many of Cairns best restaurants and bars are found on the Boardwalk at the Pier Shopping Centre underneath the Shangri-la Hotel along the Waterfront Esplanade or on Shields Street. Several of the five star resorts in Cairns like the Hilton Hotel also offer fabulous waterfront restaurants.
Cairns is a very casual laid back tropical town so generally casual dress for the climate is fine in most restaurants; as long as you have closed in shoes for the men and not a pair of thongs, a nice shirt with sleeves and some nice outfits for the ladies you should be very welcome.
For the more celebratory evenings out in an upmarket fancy restaurant the dress standards will be a bit stricter than the above of course and you may be refused entry if your outfit is deemed inappropriate.
If you are out and about in Cairns during the day there are many coffee shops and cafes scattered throughout the city cbd where you can grab a locally grown freshly roasted Skybury coffee or Daintree tea, gourmet focaccia, meat pie, healthy sandwich or even visit a Paleo or French Café for a delicious lunch . These food venues are generally very informal so bikinis and board shorts are accepted on the most part as people wander over from the Esplanade Lagoon swimming pool looking for refreshments.
If you still find yourself in the city at 2am after a bit of nightclubbing and are craving a snack you will be delighted by the collection of pizzerias, kebab shops and other miscellaneous eateries that open throughout the night. Along the Esplanade, on Shields Street and on Spence Street you will find these 24 hour food stalls. Just ask any backpacker as they are great at finding all of the cities best eating spots and they will point you in the right direction as they are normally coming out of the nightclubs all of which are within stumbling distance of each other on Spence, Grafton and Sheridan Streets at the same time too.
